Description

Program: Office for Team-based Financial Projects

This fifth-floor interior is located in a section of Cambridge between Harvard Square and Central Square. Generous amounts of exterior glazing cover three sides of the facility. Our approach was to wrap the elevator core with offices, a conference room, a kitchen / break room, and other functional spaces. Recycled cubicles fill the remainder of the space to allow daylight and views deep into the floor plate. In this way, everyone has exposure to the sun, not just enclosed offices.

Color is used democratically, flowing from interior offices, walls of conference rooms, cubicle panels, floors, and ceilings alike. Team-building can be competitive or collaborative, but collaboration is a more democratic approach, and this space reinforces that notion.

Sustainable approaches include LED lighting, recycled office cubicles, recycled carpet content, and recycled ceiling-tile content.  These efforts are all in keeping with the client’s request for LEED principles on each project.
