Our installation of a security system in the Fitchburg Public Schools was carried out in collaboration with Secure Our City, the leading firm in designing systems integrated on a district-wide solution. Secure Our City takes a holistic approach to school security. Gone are the days of having silos in security where systems are not integrated. In collaboration with Secure Our City, we designed a solution that took into account the police and fire departments, the school district and its students and staff to design a comprehensive solution within the right budgets. In this way Secure Our City were a great help in integrating Fitchburg’s CCTV and district-wide public announcement system so notifications would not be ignored for such emergencies as a left-open or forced-open door, an active shooter, bullying, or unapproved visitors. Secure Our City takes pride in this encompassing approach to security, making sure to modify the current procedures to fit the new system and to use the technology to improve safety and security, and to create training programs for staff, administration, visitors, and students, to be recorded and managed by Secure Our City personnel. These topical training sessions include active shooter and run-hide-fight, and are managed on Secure Our City’s LMS platform for both online and desktop training.
