“Plans to Progress” Ceremony Held for Exeter’s New Combined Public Safety Building

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, a “Plans to Progress” ceremony was held at the site of the new combined public safety building in the Town of Exeter, New Hampshire. At 3 pm, members of the Exeter community, Exeter Police Department staff, and The Galante Architecture Studio (TGAS) gathered for the event. The event was held at the southeast corner of the site closest to the intersection of Jillian and Continental.

Expected to be completed in early spring of 2027, the new 21,600 square foot public safety facility will serve as both a police department headquarters and a fire substation for the Town of Exeter. The Galante Architecture Studio’s design approach focuses on streamlined programming to promote the safe transportation of detainees, efficient ventilation systems for the fitness room and armory, and sustainable design to make the building a net-zero carbon emission facility. To reduce response times for emergency vehicles, fire apparatus bays are included within the new design. Since the last public safety buildings were developed in Exeter, the town has increased in population by over 45%. A growing town size and population, coupled with a 413% increase in emergency service calls, warranted the development of a new net-zero public safety facility.

The ceremony featured remarks from Exeter’s Fire Chief Justin Pizon, who said, “I feel the collaboration between The Galante Architecture Studio, Eckman Construction, the Town of Exeter, and the consulting engineers all involved. It’s more than just building a building; it’s about listening to your customer and recognizing what they’re asking for.” Pizon continued on to describe the positive partnership between the Exeter team and TGAS: “I have felt heard and recognized this entire process. It’s been fantastic; the teamwork, the suggestions, the recommendations from TGAS…very grateful for what they bring experience-wise and they got us where we need to be and the Town of Exeter is going to benefit from it.” Additional remarks at the ceremony were made by Ted Galante, Principal Architect at TGAS, who communicated with the Exeter community that the project remains under the approved budget and is progressing well.

Describing his experience working with TGAS, Exeter’s Chief of Police Josh McCain said: “Ted and the team at The Galante Architecture Studio have been excellent to work with throughout the design and construction of the new Exeter Public Safety Building. They are consistently responsive whenever I reach out with questions or suggestions, and they take the time to truly listen and offer thoughtful, practical solutions.” McCain continued on to note, “what could have been a very stressful, once-in-a-career project has been made far more manageable thanks to their professionalism and collaborative approach. While we’ve worked most closely with Ted, Hana, and Elisa, the entire TGAS team has been supportive, engaged, and a pleasure to work with.”
